's blog bicycle-wheelbarrow blew its first birthday!
The bearing of 10,000 visitors was taken in September. The greatest success of this blog is mostly all readers who have embarked on the adventure of the family on a bike!
Cons:
I do not see much except for now:
- It is easier to drive loaded. Indeed empty, the front wheel has a tendency, after passed through a hole to vibrate strongly. You are then forced to slow down before resuming your original speed. I do not know if this is a fault but I've already done three times since last August.
- The weight is not negligible. About 38 kgs . It is best to use the Cabby in a city with low slope. Otherwise provide electrical assistance. It exists I've seen on Youtube .
Conclusion: The
Cabby is very quick to learn, even my wife who initially was not very reassured it is set. The center of gravity of the bike down and its equipment, safety belts, center stand make Cabby a bike stable and safe driving as well as stationary. In our case, it meets our needs perfectly. We live in the heart of Besançon (the city center is relatively flat) and we use the bike to take the kids to school, to the nanny to go shopping or to walk.
To enable me to carry Eliott who was 5 years, I added a seat in junior Bobike (very good but not easy to climb). So I 3 children on the bike! Respect!
I look forward to trying the bike developed by wheelbarrow Gazelle, a manufacturer of cycle Dutch very seriously. Once a model is available to test near me, I'd be happy to share with you my impressions.
In the meantime, here's some information on this new 2008:
Based on the idea of Bakfiets Cargobike is more than a copy because the designers have added a few options rather thoughtful.
We find a similar basis (frame type Long John with a long bar under the case management, low threshold, handlebar Dutch Nexus hub, Rollerbrakes Brakes, Anti-theft frame, bumper skirt).
The big difference lies in the design of the body: the structure is aluminum and PVC walls and above the cash folds.
much for the bike park in town, it does not seem essential, but in a doorway or next to the car that will remain in the garage, it could tip the balance in favor of this model.
An accessory to attach a Maxi-Cosi is optional, as is the anti-bubble rain.
As for body dimensions, it is between that of the model of short and long Bakfiets: Maxi-Cosi off, carrying only two children, but much more space than in the case of short cargobike to transport business more (bag class, races, picnics ...). For further

Other equipment: No
stand on scooters (useless), there is a lock frame (photo forthcoming) essential in this cycle range. It lacks a barrier skirt for the ladies.
Test:
It's finally time to try it!
Children climb aboard and first bad surprise, Triobike falling forward!
This imbalance reflects the position of the wheels very "back" of the body. This design flaw disappears when you sit on the saddle.
I found the same feeling as when the test Christianabikes of the scooter: it has nothing to do with a bicycle, and it takes probably a long time to get used to. In contrast with the steering handlebars (cons a bar on the christianabikes) significantly improves the results.
For the rest, we always ride "leaning", the ascents and descents of sidewalk are quite acrobatic. This was particularly stressful for me that I was carrying children who were not mine: no room for error.
Finally, loaded with a scooter, you really do "monkey" (as a sidecar ) to correct the center of gravity when cornering.
Conclusion: The
Triobike is a cycle of Luxury (+ € 3000 anyway) design and finishes very accomplished.
Although the trial is disappointing for a neophyte Denis has shown that you can gain mastery in the direction of this gear.
Thanks Denis for your careful reading
